Several Soaring 20s titles made the Bank Street College of Educationâs Best Childrenâs Books of the Year List (2021). They are: A WISH IN THE DARK (Christina Soontornvat), ISAIAH DUNN IS MY HERO (Kelly J. Baptist), WOOD, WIRE, WINGS (Kirsten W. Larson), DIGGING FOR WORDS (Angela Burke Kunkel), RESCUING THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE (Anna Crowley Redding), FARMERS UNITE (Lindsay H. Metcalf), NO VOICE TO SMALL (Lindsday H. LETâS DANCE! (Valerie Bolling) is a finalist for the 2021 Connecticut Book Awards. Congratulations! Winners will be announced on October 22.
Abi Cushman (ANIMALS GO VROOM!) had two guest posts this month, âThe Best Childrenâs Books About Transportationâ (Pragmatic Mom) and âTen Ways to Make Storytimes Interactiveâ (Nerdy Book Club). Booklist said of the book, âCushmanâs appealing, digitally colored pencil drawings offer plenty of action, details, and dressed-animal characters for kids to enjoy. Fun for reading aloud.â The book also was featured on a Storybook Trail in Niantic, CT.
NO VOICE TO SMALL (Lindsay Metcalf) received ILAâs Social Justice Literature Award.
